About Embellish Me

Welcome to Embellish Me, an exhibition of works from the Collection of Norma Canelas Roth and William Roth.

Many artists featured in this exhibition were affiliated with the Pattern and Decoration movement, deeply dedicated to the fun, wonder, and inclusion of the movement. They reveled in the handmade and sought to legitimize aesthetic ideas beyond those that preoccupied the mainstream art world because all humans naturally seek out pattern and beauty.

As you journey through the exhibition, feasting your eyes on vividly painted canvases, detailed embroidery, as well as gold foil and mosaics as decadent as any luxurious dessert – you will see QR codes printed next to each of the artist’s names.

Each QR code will bring you to a web page with additional content provided by the featured artist. Enjoy these works with additional context about the movement, their mentors, their inspiration, and their thoughts on other remarkable artists.

In order to scan the QR code and open the website on your mobile device, simply point your phone’s camera at the code and tap the link that appears.

If you are unable to scan the QR code, you may need to download a QR reader. We have provided links to apps and instructions as a courtesy to assist in providing the best experience possible during your tour of the exhibition.
